I SPY

If your toddler is learning to observe the world around them and explore their surroundings, I Spy is a great game to make the curious about the world. You can start with easy and obvious clues like “I spy a red car” and then move to more difficult clues like “I spy something wooden” as they learn their environment.

Dress Up Time
Using their imaginations is vital to how children grow and learn to interact with the world. If you provide a dress up box for your toddler with a variety of fun and colorful costumes, you can be sure they will use their imagination to invent new games for themselves!

Animal Imitation

Does your child have a favorite animal? Make a fun game of pretending to be animals from across the animal kingdom. Ask your toddler questions like “how would a lion walk?” or “what sound does a frog make?” and get them moving and talking like an animal. This game is a great way to get your child moving in different ways, and also gives you a chance to teach them about new animals for them to love.

Good For All Ages

Simon Says

Kids love the chance for a challenge. This basic game is great for all ages because it can vary in difficulty depending on the age of the children. Use basic commands with toddlers to teach them basic movements and coordination (raise your right hand), or use complex and more confusing commands for older children to give them a challenge (pat your head and rub your tummy).

Music Time

Whether your child is 2 or 12, music reaches everyone. Children respond well to music, and it helps their brains develop. Singing easy songs and nursery rhymes with your toddlers can be a fun and easy way to bond and spend time together. Or you can pick more complex music from your child’s favorite Disney movie and have a sing-a-long.

1st through 5th Grade

Capture the Flag

Capture the Flag is a nostalgic game that gets kids up and moving. This game is great for large groups and helps kids practice strategy and teamwork. Capture the Flag is also best done outside, so find a large field and start playing!

Rock, Paper, Scissors
Rock, Paper, Scissors is a great game if you have just a couple of people. This game (especially when played on repeat) can help kids learn to anticipate what comes next. If they get bored with Rock, Paper, Scissors, have them try a variation or have them make up their own!

Musical Chairs

This game is the perfect mix of high energy, music, and competition. Musical Chairs is a good game for a couple of kids, or lots of kids! Pick some fun music, make a circle of chairs, and get moving!

Freeze Dance

If you have children who love to dance and move, but need some structure or challenge, freeze dance gives them both. Pick some music (here’s a playlist if you need help) and encourage your kids to dance it out, but only when the music is playing. They have to freeze when you pause the music. Enjoy the hilarity when they freeze in awkward positions!

Hide and Seek (or Sardines)

Everyone has played hide and seek at some point in their lives. This fun kids game allows your child to show creativity and think outside the box. Give kids special parameters, like only hiding in one room, or only hiding below eye level, to make it more difficult. Or, try this fun variation of hide and seek, called Sardines.
