In the Christian community, coming out can be a terrifying experience. What if it didn’t have to be? Read on to see what the Bible says is true of all people.

Can someone be Gay and a Christian?

Individuals in the LGBTQ+ communities are often ostracized by faith communities, making it extremely difficult to find a church environment that is truly welcoming and affirming. Many churches might even dance around saying what they truly believe. Not at .

Here at , we believe that every person is loved by God and welcomed into the community of believers just as you are. However you identify or whomever you are attracted to, you are seen, known, and loved by the God who created you. And the good news? God did not make a mistake in creating you exactly as you are.

You are loved.

One of the biggest lies is that God will not love you if you are gay. That could not be farther from the truth. God created you in His image and called you “very good” (Genesis 1:31). The love of God for you cannot be removed. No part of you, who you are, how you identify, could ever turn God’s face from you. God created you “very good,” no matter what.

Nothing can ever separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39). Not only does God love you exactly as you are, but there are also people all around you who love you too. We want to know the wonderful person God has created you to be!

God loves and cares for you so much, so God the Father sent Jesus, his son, to live here on earth and show us what it means to be humans made in the image of God (Philippians 2:6-11). God does not ask us to become someone we are not but embraces us and desires to live in harmony with us. God loves you simply because you exist!

You belong.

It can be incredibly hard to find a space of true belonging as a member of the LGBT+ community, especially when many faith-oriented spaces have been outspoken against those who are not cisgender or heterosexual. But if God’s love is not determined or even deterred by our sexual identity or orientation, then neither should our belonging in the church.

God did not create us to live alone, he gave us the gift of relationships with those around us (1 John 4:12). However, relationships are very difficult for a number of reasons. For many in the queer and trans communities, close family relationships are estranged or strained in some way. Belonging may not always feel like a given, even within your own family.

Here at , we want every person to know that they belong – and that we want you to be here with us! We know that human relationships can be difficult, and we still want to know and love you. Belonging and love do not necessitate anything.

You are worthy of relationship, belonging, and love. That truth is not dependent on you fitting a mold of what or who other people expect you to be. Jesus wants to know you exactly as you are, and desires for you to experience the fullness of what it means to be a person created in the image of God.
